The Green Eyed Monster

Envy is called “The green-eyed monster. It resents the success of others and operates under the controlling principle of self-advancement. Many have been hurt and the envious have hurt themselves too. Wonder why described as “Green?” 
The color green that is associated with jealousy dated back to ancient Greeks. They believed jealousy occurred as result of the overproduction of bile, which turned human skin slightly green so they associate sickness with the green and paleness. So think about it, envy is a sickness isn’t it?
