Money is a powerful motivational tool. Asks sales people. Commissions matter to them. But amazingly, monetary rewards turn off creativity in people whose intrinsic motivation is in the deed itself. A painter paints not necessarily for the money. Pay the painter for a work and the painter could not give his or her best. What’s powerful is mastery of one’s work and a sense of purpose. Master your work. Seek your purpose. Excel and money will follow.
