Kids have to be taught confidence but this has to be balanced with humility, courtesy and respect. And then it dawned on me.
It is very hard for children to learn manners when they never see any! And so the teaching and the learning process starts with me and The Ilocana. Do you agree with this observation?

I do agree. Children mimic more what they see at home rather than what they hear or told to do. When what they hear differs from what they see from the person talking, they simply adopt how the latter behave.
Children are authentic mirrors of parents.
