It’s all about the ATTITUDE

September 9, 2012

What is the difference between Ability, Motivation and Attitude?
Ability is what you are capable of doing.
Motivation determines what you can do.
Attitude determines how well you do it.
All things being equal, attitude plays the most vital role.
I’ve known of talented and extremely skillful people who never go far in life because of their lousy attitude.

    Hi Francis,

I’ve just came back from a 4-day seminar/workshop on the essentials of human resource management in Makati conducted by PMAP last week. I asked the lady-speaker during the 2nd day on what is the best training or seminar for employees with attitude problems. I was quite frustrated by her answer when she said, “It was one question she hopes participants would not ask in her training/seminars as it irritates her” or sort of something like that. I’m not sure if she was serious but I think the question was a legitimate one which needs sincere answer. Can you give me your take on that as I think she doesn’t know the answer herself.

    Thank you.

      Hi Glenn,
Each trainer may have his or her opinions, prejudices, discriminations and preferences depending on their background, culture, orientation and more importantly their life experiences.

For me, attitude is everything. More important than title and equally important to competence. There are competent people today who do not fly and soar high and there are humble people who are not competent but because they have a positive attitude rises to the top and become successful. These are also the same business people who hire the services of consultants like the lady and me…. 🙂
      thanks for asking.
