Honest Compliments

October 26, 2014

Compliments should be given carefully. When a child brings home an artwork rather than saying: “that is so beautiful!” (when the truth is that it could improve some more…) and when the child gets very low grades then the compliment bombs and the child is confused. It would be a better to say, “I like the way you put your work into what you do…” or “I love your attitude towards wanting to improve….” This is honest and brings better results.
