Advice or Approval?

Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. says: “It’s a pleasure to give advice, humiliating to need it, and normal to ignore it.”
Some people are not really seeking advice, they merely want you to agree with what they have already decided. Have you ever had this experience and how did you deal with it?
