I have been wrong and I have apologised many times. This is what I have learned: Do not mess up an apology with an excuse. “I am sorry….but the reason why I ..….” would negate the apology and becomes a mere excuse. Just sincerely say “I’m sorry.” And there is no need to add justification into it. It works better this way.
