Holy Week Reflections

HOLY WEEK REFLECTIONS:
Palm Sunday – The Triumphal Entry
“Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! — Matthew 21:9
Reflection: This marks the beginning of Holy Week, commemorating Jesus’ humble yet triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Jesus didn’t ride into Jerusalem to claim a throne—He came to carry a cross.
Holy Monday – Cleansing the Temple
“And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple… He said to them, ‘It is written, My house shall be called a house of prayer, but you make it a den of robbers.’ — Matthew 21:12-13 On Holy Monday, Jesus purified the temple, emphasizing the sanctity of worship.
Reflection: Let us examine our lives and remove anything that hinders our relationship with God. “Let us cleanse the temples of our hearts just as Christ did.”
Holy Tuesday – Fig Tuesday
On this day, Jesus returned to Jerusalem from Bethany and, upon seeing a barren fig tree, used it as a teaching moment about faith and fruitfulness (Matthew 21:18-22).
“By their fruit you will recognize them.” — Matthew 7:16🕊️
Reflection: Holy Tuesday invites us to reflect on our faith’s authenticity. Are we bearing fruit that honors God? Let our actions align with our belief.
Holy Wednesday – The Betrayal
Even in betrayal, God’s plan for salvation was unfolding. Let us trust in His sovereign Grace.
The darkest schemes of man cannot undo the light of God’s purpose.
Reflection: Reminds us of Judas’s betrayal.Yet, even in betrayal, God’s plan for salvation was unfolding. Let us trust in His sovereign grace.
“For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?” — Mark 8:36
Maundy Thursday (April 17, 2025) (The Last Supper)
“Do this in remembrance of me.” — Luke 22:19
Jesus exemplified ultimate humility and love on this sacred night by washing His disciples’ feet and instituting the Lord’s Supper. Let us remember His command to love one another as He has loved us.
“The One who holds the universe knelt to wash feet.”
True leadership always begins with service.
Good Friday
“Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” — *Luke 23:34
Today, we reflect on the profound sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. His suffering and death opened the way for our salvation. May we live in gratitude for His boundless love.
“It looked like defeat, but it was destiny.”
The cross wasn’t the end—it was the door to redemption.
Holy Saturday (April 19, 2025) (The Silence Between the Storm and the Sunrise)
“Today, a great silence reigns on earth, a great silence and a great stillness.
This day invites us into quiet reflection and hopeful anticipation. As we await the resurrection, let us trust in God’s promises and prepare our hearts for the joy to come.
“Even in the silence, God is still working.”
Remember that the resurrection is coming when it feels like all is lost.
Resurrection Sunday (April 20, 2025
“He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.” — Matthew 28:6
Rejoice! Christ has conquered death, bringing hope and new life to all. Let us celebrate the resurrection and share the good news: Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!
“The tomb is empty. Hope is not.”
Because He lives, your story doesn’t end in death—it rises in victory. (anon)
