“I can’t count the number of emails I wish I had not sent. I can’t remember the times when my in my anger I have uttered words that may have hurt others causing casualties to people who are nearest us in work or family.”
Wise words to remember.
Anger is only one letter away from danger. Never do email, letter or memo when you are angry. Wait 24 hours. When mad, I’ve learned that the wise thing to do is NOTHING. Wait it out.

From the book entitled: “Make a Life Not Just a Living comes this a modern day parable for the 21st Century. Listen to the author Ron Jenson’s story. Ron says: “I had a friend who was a very shrewd businessman. He wanted to find a future successor to manage the company he owned. So he targeted three very capable individuals who oversaw different profit centers of his company. All three seemed to have the talents needed to fulfill the role. But my friend wanted someone who would take initiative, someone who had courage like himself, who would not be so immobilized by fear of failure that he or she wouldn’t risk at a reasonable level. “Unknowingly for these three people, my friend put together a test. He gave each of the three profit centers in his business an infusion of capital proportionate to its size.

“He gave Bill, the manager of the smallest profit center, ten thousand dollars to invest in anyway he saw fit. Then he gave Sandy fifty thousand dollars for her larger profit center. Finally, he gave Mark one hundred thousand dollars to invest in anyway he wanted in his profit center.

Dr. Philip E. Humbert publishes a web site called: The innovative Professional’s Letter. And in a particular issue he talks about time. Listen to what he has to say.(1)

A few years ago, I read a book called, “Timelock”, about the history of time. The author claimed that until the advent of railroads, the average person neither needed, nor wanted, to know the time of day.

Hollywood produces celebrities; they do not produce heroes. But here is one solid hero in my list and Hollywood does not even know him. Read on and know why.
John Harper was born to a pair of solid Christian parents on May 29th, 1872. It was on the last Sunday of March 1886, when he was thirteen years old that he received Jesus as the Lord of his life. He never knew what it was to “sow his wild oats.” He began to preach about four years later at the ripe old age of 17 years by going down to the streets of his village and pouring out his soul in earnest entreaty for men to be reconciled to God.

As John Harper’s life unfolded, one thing was apparent: he was consumed by the Word of God. When asked by various ministers what his doctrine consisted of, he was known to reply, “The Word of God!” After five or six years of toiling on street corners preaching the gospel and working in the mill during the day, Harper was taken in by E. A. Carter of Baptist Pioneer Mission in London, England. This set Harper free to devote his whole time and energy to the work so dear to his heart. Soon, John Harper started his own church in September of 1896. (Now known as the Harper Memorial Church.) This church, which John Harper had started with just 25 members, had grown to over 500 members when he left 13 years later. During this time he had gotten married, God did bless John Harper with a beautiful little girl named Nana.

I love inspirational books. I love books on motivation. I want to be inspired because I want to inspire people. I want to be motivated so that I can motivate others as well.

This is why I love people who are joyful and active. I don’t like people who are complainers, whiners, moaners and sobers. I  don’t know why but some people brighten the room by leaving it.

I’ve been in the business world for so long I always find it fun and exciting. Not every venture was profitable but every experience surely added lessons I have learned in life. Doing business and thinking about business is not a problem for me. Not letting it consume me is. Maybe this is what prompted this couple to write their love letter with the mindset of doing business.

Look at the way they communicate.

Have you ever been wrong?

The expected answer is “Of course.”

And now comes the clincher. What do you do when you know you’re wrong?

In a talk I gave for my friends in the software industry, I prompted the prestigious audience and said, “You have to say the 3 most important words. What are they?”

It’s a digital world.

Everything is going digital.

Every time I get to speak to bankers all over the country I would chide them and poke them with this provoking thought.

Straight into their eyes this is what I say: “You guys boast of your excellent service. Your TV ads show your tellers transacting with a smile. But every time I call up your bank I never get a chance to talk to a human being. I get to talk to an answering machine.”

Have you ever seen a sermon walking? Listen to this story.

Reporters and city officials gathered at a Chicago railroad station one afternoon in 1953. The person they were meeting was the 1952 Nobel Peace Prize winner. A few minutes after the train came to a stop, a giant of a man – six feet four inches – with bushy hair and a large mustache stepped from the train. Cameras flashed. City officials approached him with hands outstretched. Various people began telling him how honored they were to meet him.

The man politely thanked them and then, looking over their heads, asked if he could be excused for a moment. He quickly walked through the crowd until he reached the side of an elderly black woman who was struggling with two large suitcases. He picked up the bags and with a smile, escorted the woman to a bus. After helping her aboard, he wished her a safe journey. As he returned to the greeting party he apologized, “Sorry to have kept you waiting.”

Dr. John C. Maxwell is a very prolific author. Our company Inspire Leadership Consultancy has been licensed to do his leadership training programs here in our country. I would love to share with you an article Maxwell wrote many years ago. And as the whole country prepares to go to the polls, I hope that the new set of elected officers would learn from the lessons presented here. Maxwell writes:

Before the NBA ever heard of Shaquille O’Neal, Dikembe Mutombo or Tim Duncan; back before anyone knew the name Hakeem Olajuwon; in the days before Kareem Abdul-Jabbar ruled the hardwoods, Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell changed the nature of professional basketball with the way they played the center position.
