CROCODILE TEARS

MONDAY PHRASE: CROCODILE TEARS
We use “crocodile tears” to describe fake sorrow or insincere emotion. The phrase comes from an old belief that crocodiles cried while eating their victims, as though they were showing remorse. Science has since rejected this idea, but the legend survived in language. Today, the phrase reminds us that not every display of emotion is genuine.
