Why Teachers Grow Old Prematurely
Tribute to Teachers. This year's event this afternoon gathered some 6,500 teachers in SMX Convention Center and I was given the privilege to speak to them. Working together with the mime ministry of Christ Commission Fellowship, all of us felt so privileged given the opportunity to inspire the overworked, underpaid, under appreciated educators from all over the country sponsored by Diwa Publishing.
Do you know why teachers grow old prematurely?
What Are Your Gifts?
A group of animals got together in the forest one day and decided to start a school. There was a rabbit, a bird, a squirrel, a fish, and an eel. They formed a board of education and tried to create a curriculum. The rabbit insisted that tunnel digging in the ground be in the curriculum. The fish insisted on swimming. The squirrel insisted that perpendicular tree climbing be included, and the bird wanted flying.
They put all these courses together and wrote a curriculum guide. Then they insisted that all of the animals take all of the subjects. Although the rabbit was getting an A in tunnel digging, perpendicular tree climbing was a real problem for him; he kept falling over backwards. Pretty soon he became brain damaged from these falls, and he couldn't dig well any more. He found that instead of making an A in tunnel digging, he was making a C. And, of course, he always made an F in perpendicular climbing.
No Such Thing As An Unimportant Day
I started Monday of this week with giving a talk to an auditorium full of students at Far East University. This will be followed by 4 continuous whole day training seminar. Then I will be addressing a body of 6,000 teachers and rush out of town on the same day and do another training the next day.
Whew! Physically tired but inwardly fulfilled. Especially when you see the smiles on the faces of the students and the senior execs of a very powerful and popular business organization. I am thoroughly convinced that there is no such thing as an unimportant day.
12 Ways to Fight Depression Part 4
Fighting depression? It's hard to face it alone.
Let's look at tip number 8.
8. BE ACCOUNTABLE TO YOUR FRIENDS
In our leadership training programs we stress the importance of having a mentor or the need to be mentoring someone. I am fortunate to be in the company of successful business people and we meet once every week, sharing ideas, praying for each other and as we find ourselves accountable to each other we are. Friendship is the greatest support system in the world. Make sure you have friends who are firm and honest enough to tell you not just the things you want to hear but the things you need to hear. My friends keep me on track. They share my burdens and they celebrate my victories. It's a great depression buster just to have people there for you when you need it most.

And so you are depressed. Who wouldn't be?
If you claim to be a person who is never depressed then you may be fooling yourself.
I will never forget talking to a leader of an institution who claims he is never depressed. I asked him why and I asked him how he deals with it. He says, “I do not know what depression is because I always come to God in prayer.”
Wow! I said to myself. This loser is better than David, Elijah, Peter and Paul in the Bible. He thinks he's superman and now he has made me depressed!
No one is exempted from depression.

5. KNOW YOUR STRENGTH ZONE AND KNOW YOUR WEAK SPOT
What motivates you? What brings a sparkle to your eyes? Ka-Cheng-Ka-cheng if it's the Peso sign that is not a sparkle. You will be at your best when you are working within your strength zone. You will be at your poorest or at best, average if you force yourself to work within your weak spot.
You need to know what your weak spots are.

12 Ways to Fight Depression Part 1
Hey Francis, we would like to have you come over and speak to us.
This is the usual line I get from people and clients who would invite me for keynote speeches or even whole day trainings. And guess what the most requested topic these days would be?
Hard Times. Difficult Times.
IQ, EQ and AQ
The topic given me was on the importance of IQ, EQ and AQ. Meaning Intelligent Quotient, Emotional Quotient and Adversity Quotient and though we surpassed our regular 5 minute segment on Thursday morning's Umagang Kay Ganda "Advice Segment;" it was obvious that the charming Pinky Webb and I had a great time talking about it and answering questions both from the live audience and from people on the streets.
I never knew that the topic would trigger so many responses and the text messages and email flowed in. Which made me think... maybe I should write something in relation to this which is precisely what I will be doing.
Cannibals in the Office?
Here is a material I got from the Internet. Makes you think real hard as to who are the more important people in the work place. Enjoy this piece.
A big corporation recently hired several cannibals. "You are all part of our team now," said the HR rep during the welcoming briefing. "You get all the usual benefits and you can go to the cafeteria for something to eat, but please don't eat any of the other employees." The cannibals promised they would not.
